Lodge Committees

An OA lodge functions with several operating committees. The descriptions below describe the committee chair’s role and committee functions. If you are interested in chairing one of these committees, please download and review the Committee Chair Candidacy Agreement.

Activities Chairman

The Activities Chairman will coordinate Lodge participation at the Cherokee Area Council Scout Show, coordinate the Lodge Conclave contingent, plan the Lodge Annual Banquet, and the Lodge Fellowships. He will also oversee other activities as authorized by the Lodge Chief or the Lodge Executive Committee (LEC).

Camp Promotions Chairman

The Camp Promotions Chairman is the coordinator for the camp promotions team within each District. Camp Promotions Teams and Unit Elections Teams are not necessarily the same, but can be. The Camp Promotions Chairman is responsible for the training sessions to train Camp Promotions Teams. The Camp Promotions Chairman should coordinate unit elections in all troops so that no member conducts an election in his own unit. He will also be responsible for other assignments given to him by the Lodge Chief or the Lodge Executive Committee (LEC).

Ceremonies Chairman

The Ceremonies Chairman is responsible for all ceremonies of the Lodge other than the Vigil Honor Ceremony. He is to recruit and assist in training new Ceremony Team members, and ensure that Lodge ceremonial equipment is properly maintained. He will assist the Chapter Chiefs to conduct Call Out and Crossover Ceremonies in the district. He will also be responsible for other assignments given to him by the Lodge Chief or the Lodge Executive Committee (LEC).

Ordeal Master

The Ordeal Master is responsible for all aspects of the Ordeal, from planning through inductions. He will work with all necessary committees to ensure the success of the Ordeal. He will be responsible for other assignments given to him by the Lodge Chief or the Lodge Executive Committee (LEC).

Communications Chairman

The Communications Chairman shall serve as the editor of the Lodge Newsletter, Talking Leaves (eLeaves). He/She will produce the publication and mailing of at least four (4) newsletters to the membership each year. He will appoint members to take care of the publications for the Lodge, as necessary. He will attend to other duties given to him by the Lodge Chief or the Lodge Executive Committee (LEC).
