It is with a heavy heart that we are notifying everyone that one of our own has passed away.
Chris Ratliff of Hixson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Chris was a 3 palmed Eagle Scout, part of the Wood Badge Community, former Scout Master and mentor to nearly 20 Eagle Scouts for Troop 166 Hixson, TN Burkes UMC.
Chris was a Vigil Honor recipient, ganschalogawagan gischihan (one who makes wonderful work with hands). Also, it was his Eagle project to place flags at the National Cemetery that has become our Council’s biggest annual event.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at the Heritage Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Eric Mullinax and Dr. Travis S. Shipley officiating. Interment will follow in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the International Board of Jewish Missions or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home, (3239 Battlefield Pkwy, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742).
